About Me

Nichelle Spyke	I've taken several character assessments that based on my responses, told me where I would excel professionally. Whether it was social work, teaching, counseling, or managing people, in all instances, a common theme resonated—helping people to become their best.

When I was between the ages of 8 – 10, I would write candy companies with suggestions and feedback, as a high schooler and young adult, I would provide an objective ear and solutions to close friends and would help family with customer service and account management concerns.

After graduating high school, I left for college with the intention of getting a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice to help the disenfranchised. Two years later, life happened and I returned home and began my career in customer service working in various industries like utilities, telecom, automotive, and the Internet of Things and like the findings in the assessments, I thrived when it came to helping my peers, my employees, and our customers and I used my Emotional Intelligence.

Unlike your IQ, Emotional Intelligence (EI) or your Emotional Quotient (EQ) is a skill that can be developed. Simply put, Emotional Intelligence is your ability to recognize, understand, and manage your own emotions and your ability to recognize, understand, and influence the emotions of others.

Connecting with people is my strong suit and has helped me to build and maintain excellent personal and professional relationships. I pride myself on being a conduit in my personal life with family and friends and over the last 20 years professionally, I have coached employees to exceed performance expectations and crush their opportunities while helping them recognize and develop their strengths. These abilities proved to be valuable with my employees, our customers, and my contribution to the business.

The personal benefits of harnessing your Emotional Intelligence can help improve relationships with the people we care about, it helps us to manage emotions when stressed, and it allows us to have uncomfortable conversations without hurting feelings.

Professionally, Emotional Intelligence is a game-changer for anyone responsible for managing people. It helps leaders coach and motivate employees, resolve conflicts, create a culture of collaboration, and one of my favorites, Emotional Intelligence can build safety within teams.
